# About Action International Ministries

Sometimes sharing the Gospel means preaching and teaching. Other times, it means caring for a child living on the streets, helping a struggling family, or equipping a pastor who has never had access to formal ministry training.

For [Action International Ministries](https://actioninternational.org/?ref=ministryy.com) (ACTION), those things belong together.

ACTION is a global, interdenominational mission agency that sends multinational missionaries to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in both word and deed. While its missionaries serve people from many different backgrounds, the ministry has a particular heart for the poor, overlooked, and unreached.

Whether someone needs to hear about Jesus, grow as a disciple, receive practical help, or become equipped to lead others, ACTION seeks to meet people where they are while keeping Christ at the center.

## Our Mission

ACTION's mission flows directly from the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18–20.

The ministry works alongside local churches and other Christian organizations to introduce people to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. But ACTION doesn't want the relationship to end when someone first hears the Gospel.

Discipleship matters too.

Missionaries help Christians grow in their faith, become connected to healthy churches, and learn what it means to follow Christ in everyday life. At the same time, ACTION recognizes that people often face very real physical, social, and economic needs.

That's why ministry may also involve caring for children in crisis, serving families experiencing poverty, strengthening communities, or developing sustainable solutions that help people move forward.

The goal is to care for the whole person while always pointing back to Jesus.

## Where It All Began

ACTION's story began in 1974 on the streets of Manila in the Philippines.

At the time, small Filipino churches were ministering to children who had run away from home and were living on the streets. ACTION came alongside these local believers to help care for children who were easily overlooked by the rest of society.

What started as a focused ministry in one city eventually grew far beyond the Philippines.

Today, ACTION has become an evangelical, interdenominational sending organization with workers serving in around 30 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.

The locations have changed and the ministry has expanded, but the heart behind the work remains much the same: go where people are being overlooked and demonstrate the love of Christ through both the Gospel and compassionate action.

## Serving the Overlooked

ACTION has a particular concern for people and communities that may not receive much attention.

That includes children living in crisis, families experiencing urban poverty, unreached social and cultural groups, and pastors who have received little or no formal ministry training.

Missionaries may serve these communities in very different ways depending on local needs. Ministry can involve evangelism, discipleship, practical service, research, networking, community development, leadership training, and simply building relationships with people over time.

There isn't a single ACTION ministry model that looks exactly the same everywhere.

Instead, workers seek to understand the people they serve and partner with local Christians who already know their communities.

## Strengthening Pastors and Churches

Reaching people with the Gospel also means strengthening the churches that will continue serving them long after a missionary leaves.

In many parts of the world, pastors lead growing congregations despite having limited access to biblical education, theological training, books, mentors, or ministry resources.

ACTION works alongside these pastors and churches, helping Christian leaders become better equipped to teach Scripture, disciple believers, strengthen congregations, and reach their own communities.

Rather than replacing local leadership, the goal is to strengthen it.

## Multiplying Missions

ACTION doesn't believe missionaries should only come from a handful of countries.

One of its priorities is missions multiplication—helping mobilize missionaries from the very countries where ACTION already serves.

A community that once received missionaries can eventually become a community that sends them.

As local believers mature, churches grow stronger, and leaders are equipped, they can begin carrying the Gospel into neighboring communities, cultures, and nations themselves.

That's when missions begins to multiply.

## The Heart Behind ACTION

Prayer, evangelism, discipleship, compassionate service, church partnership, and missionary mobilization all come together in ACTION's approach to ministry.

But underneath every program is a simple conviction: people need both the truth of the Gospel and the tangible love of Christ.

**For Action International Ministries, missions means treasuring Jesus, making Him known, serving people others may overlook, and helping believers around the world carry that same mission forward.**
