About Apologetics Canada

What happens when someone asks you a difficult question about Christianity?

Maybe they want to know whether the Bible can actually be trusted.

Maybe they're wrestling with the existence of God or wondering what Christianity has to say about identity, morality, technology, or what it means to be human.

You don't need to have a perfectly rehearsed response.

But Apologetics Canada believes Christians should be prepared to have the conversation.

Apologetics Canada is an evangelical, non-denominational ministry dedicated to helping Christians understand what they believe, why they believe it, and how they can communicate those beliefs to the people around them.

For the ministry, apologetics isn't primarily about becoming better at arguing.

It's about becoming better prepared to share the hope you have in Christ.

Questions Aren't Something to Fear

The word "apologetics" can sound intimidating.

It comes from the Greek word apologia, referring to giving an answer or reason.

Apologetics Canada connects that idea with Peter's instruction in 1 Peter 3:15 that Christians should be prepared to give a reason for their hope while doing so with gentleness and respect.

That last part matters.

A good answer can still be communicated badly.

So Apologetics Canada wants Christians to develop a faith that is intellectually serious without becoming cold or combative. You can think carefully about difficult questions while still remembering that there's a person on the other side of the conversation.

That philosophy is captured in a simple phrase the ministry regularly uses:

Love God. Love People.

It Started With Young People Asking Questions

Apologetics Canada began in 2010 when Andy and Nancy Steiger established an apologetics ministry in British Columbia.

One of their concerns was younger generations.

They were seeing young people walk away from Christianity while carrying questions that churches weren't always prepared to address.

Andy had also become involved with Apologetics.com and saw the value of paying attention to the questions people were actually asking about Christianity.

That experience helped shape what eventually became Apologetics Canada.

Rather than assuming people should simply accept Christian answers, the ministry wanted to create environments where serious questions could be explored thoughtfully.

Bringing Apologetics Into Everyday Life

Some apologetics ministries concentrate heavily on formal philosophical arguments.

Apologetics Canada certainly engages intellectual questions, but its resources often begin somewhere more familiar.

What does it mean to be human?

Where does our identity come from?

Can we trust the Bible?

How should Christians think about artificial intelligence?

Those questions connect theology with conversations already happening around dinner tables, classrooms, workplaces, churches, and social media.

Resources such as The Thinking Series explore major worldview questions, while The Human Project examines humanity from a Christian perspective. Other materials address biblical reliability and help parents and Christian educators think theologically about emerging technology.

There are even resources designed specifically for children.

The idea is to make apologetics useful before someone finds themselves in a debate.

Creating Places for Honest Conversation

Sometimes people need more than another video or article.

They need somewhere they can ask the question themselves.

Apologetics Canada creates those opportunities through conferences, speaking events, podcasts, courses, and gatherings such as Questioning Christianity.

These conversations welcome people who may be experiencing doubts or carrying intellectual barriers to Christianity.

Instead of treating doubt as something embarrassing, the ministry creates space to investigate it.

Christians can strengthen their understanding while skeptics and questioning believers can examine Christianity without pretending their objections don't exist.

Equipping the Local Church

Apologetics Canada ultimately doesn't want apologetics to become something disconnected from ordinary church life.

Its mission is intentionally tied to the local church.

The ministry believes apologetics contributes to discipleship by helping Christians develop a faith that is biblically grounded, intellectually robust, and capable of engaging the culture around them.

That preparation can change everyday conversations.

A parent can respond more thoughtfully when their child begins questioning Christianity.

A student can engage difficult ideas without immediately assuming faith and reason are enemies.

A Christian talking with a skeptical friend can listen carefully instead of becoming defensive.

Apologetics becomes less about having every answer and more about becoming the kind of Christian who isn't afraid to explore the question.

Truth Spoken With Love

Apologetics Canada began because Christians were encountering difficult questions.

Those questions haven't disappeared.

If anything, new ones continue emerging as culture and technology change.

But the ministry's response isn't simply to produce a larger collection of arguments.

It's to form Christians who know the Gospel deeply enough to communicate it faithfully.

At the heart of Apologetics Canada is the conviction that Christians don't need to fear difficult questions. They can understand their faith deeply, think carefully about the world around them, listen honestly to the people asking, and communicate the truth of Jesus with intellectual confidence, gentleness, and genuine love.
