About Asian Access

Asian Access is a Christian leadership development ministry that invests deeply in influential pastors and Christian leaders so they can strengthen the Church and multiply the Gospel throughout Asia and beyond. Instead of trying to train the largest number of people possible, Asian Access intentionally works with small groups of proven leaders over an extended period of time. The idea is simple: when a leader is transformed by Christ and equipped to lead well, that change rarely stops with them. It begins spreading into their family, their church, their community, and eventually into the lives of countless people they may influence.

Asian Access calls this “changing the few who change the many.”

Start With the Leader

It's easy to look at a country with millions of people and immediately think about scale.

How can we reach more people?

Asian Access starts with a different question.

Who are the leaders already positioned to reach them?

A pastor may influence one congregation today, but that same pastor can develop other leaders who eventually disciple others and establish new churches.

So rather than trying to personally reach everyone, Asian Access concentrates on developing leaders capable of multiplying what they receive.

Its cohorts are intentionally small, often bringing together around 12 to 15 leaders.

Smallness is part of the strategy.

It creates room for trust to develop and gives leaders the opportunity to know one another beyond the surface.

More Than Leadership Techniques

Asian Access isn't simply trying to make pastors more efficient.

The ministry believes leadership development begins with the person.

A leader can learn better organizational strategies while their marriage is struggling. They can become more effective communicators while privately experiencing spiritual exhaustion.

Asian Access wants transformation to go deeper.

Its leadership development process unfolds over roughly two years and takes place while participants remain actively involved in ministry.

Leaders examine their relationship with God while growing in character. They learn to understand their calling more clearly and become better equipped for the responsibilities already in front of them.

Practical leadership matters.

But Christlikeness comes first.

Leaders Need Each Other

Something important happens when Christian leaders stop seeing one another primarily as competition.

They begin discovering what they can accomplish together.

Community is central to the Asian Access model.

The leaders in a cohort spend enough time together for relationships to deepen. They pray together and learn together. Over time, barriers between ministries can begin breaking down.

That unity matters because the challenges facing the Church are often bigger than any single congregation can address.

One pastor may have vision.

Another has experience.

Someone else has relationships that open doors.

When those leaders begin trusting one another, cooperation becomes possible.

Asian Access believes that kind of unity can accelerate what God is already doing.

From One Leader to Many

The process isn't supposed to end when someone completes the program.

A transformed leader becomes a multiplying leader.

They begin investing in other people.

Those disciples can eventually disciple others.

The same principle extends to churches.

Asian Access has developed church-multiplication strategies that encourage congregations to think beyond growing one large church and toward reproducing new communities of believers.

Its experience in Japan became an important example.

Instead of pastors trying to plant churches alone, churches began working together. Existing congregations could cooperate in establishing new ones while Japanese leaders remained central to the process.

The vision shifts from building my church to advancing Christ's Church.

Leadership That Changes More Than Churches

Asian Access also recognizes that Christian influence doesn't stop at the church door.

Leaders serve within workplaces and communities.

Their decisions affect families and organizations.

That's why the ministry has extended aspects of its leadership-development approach beyond pastors.

The setting may change, but the underlying conviction remains the same.

A leader who is becoming more like Christ can influence the environment around them differently.

Asian Access describes this as Spirit-led change.

The ministry doesn't claim that leadership techniques themselves transform nations.

God transforms people.

Asian Access tries to create environments where leaders can become more receptive to that transforming work and better equipped to carry it outward.

From Japan to a Wider Movement

Asian Access traces its roots to 1967, when the ministry began as LIFE Ministries with an evangelistic focus in Japan.

Over time, its strategy evolved.

Leadership development became increasingly central, and the ministry expanded beyond Japan when pastor training began in Mongolia in 1996.

In 2002, the organization adopted the name Asian Access.

Today, its vision has grown beyond one country and even beyond Asia itself:

“A vibrant community accelerating Christ-centered movements around the world.”

But growth hasn't changed the basic strategy.

Start with people.

Invest deeply.

Build genuine community.

Then allow transformed leaders to multiply what God has done in them.

Changing the Few Who Change the Many

Asian Access doesn't measure opportunity only by asking how many people can fit into a training event.

Sometimes the greatest impact begins around a much smaller table.

Twelve pastors become healthier leaders.

Those pastors strengthen their churches.

They begin developing other leaders.

Churches cooperate instead of working alone.

New congregations emerge.

Those congregations begin reaching their communities.

And eventually, an investment made in a handful of people touches thousands who never participated in the original training.

That's the multiplication Asian Access is pursuing.

At the heart of Asian Access is the conviction that one Christ-centered leader can influence far more people than themselves. By investing deeply in a strategic few, building genuine community between leaders, and helping them become people who develop others and multiply churches, Asian Access seeks to strengthen the Church from the inside out—changing the few who can ultimately change the many.
