# About CGPKids

CGPKids equips church leaders to disciple children and help them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. As a ministry of the Church of God of Prophecy International Offices, it supports children's ministry leaders throughout the denomination with training and practical resources.

Its vision can be summarized in four words: “Developing Leaders, Discipling Kids.”

The ministry believes children are important participants in the Church today, not simply future Christians waiting to become adults. Because of that, churches should take their spiritual development seriously and prepare leaders who understand how to minister to them effectively.

## Developing Better Children’s Ministry Leaders

Leadership development is at the center of the ministry.

Children's Ministries provides several levels of training for people who serve children. Leaders can participate in certification programs and online courses. The ministry also provides onsite instruction and advanced training for those who will equip other leaders.

Training addresses practical responsibilities such as preparing Bible lessons and managing volunteers. Leaders are also taught how to share the Gospel with children in an age-appropriate way.

The goal is to develop adults who understand both the responsibility and spiritual significance of children's ministry.

## Training Leaders Around the World

The ministry's leadership development extends internationally through the International Institute of Children's Ministry.

A national CGPKids leader can request an Institute for their country. The International Children's Ministry team then develops training around the needs of leaders in that particular nation.

Institutes generally last three to five days and focus on ministry skills and leadership development.

This model allows the ministry to strengthen children's ministries within local churches rather than trying to operate every program directly from its international headquarters.

## Helping Churches Disciple Children

Training leaders ultimately serves a larger purpose: helping children become disciples of Jesus.

The ministry provides resources that help churches teach children about salvation and Christian holiness.

Children are encouraged to understand biblical truth rather than simply learn good behavior.

For example, the ministry's Quest for Holiness teaches sanctification as God's continuing work in a believer's life. Children learn that holiness involves being set apart for God's purposes and learning to live according to His Word.

## Helping Parents Disciple Their Children

Children's Ministries also recognizes that spiritual formation should continue at home.

Its resources encourage churches to equip parents to participate in their children's spiritual lives. Current initiatives such as Raising Disciples at Home reflect this emphasis.

This keeps children's ministry from becoming something that happens only during a church service. Parents are encouraged to help their children understand Scripture and develop a Christian life throughout the week.

## Giving Churches Practical Resources

Not every local church has a large children's ministry staff or the ability to create its own curriculum.

Children's Ministries helps fill that gap by providing churches with teaching materials and ministry guidance. Its resource library includes curriculum recommendations and materials for children's spiritual development.

The ministry also provides guidance for outreach and missions education. These resources help churches introduce children to missionary work and encourage them to think about serving others.

## Making Children's Ministry Safe

Effective children's ministry also requires protecting the children being served.

CGPKids provides a Child, Youth, and Worker Protection Policy for its congregations. Children's Ministries presents safety as part of creating an environment where children can encounter Jesus and grow spiritually.

This makes protection an essential ministry responsibility rather than simply an administrative requirement.

## Helping Children Become Part of the Church

The ministry wants children to understand that they belong within the life of the local church.

Its Membership Matters for Kids resource teaches elementary-age children about church membership. It explains the church as a community where believers learn God's Word and care for one another.

CGPKids allows believing children to become covenant members, so this resource helps children understand what that commitment means.

## Developing Leaders Who Disciple Kids

CGPKids ultimately works through the people who serve children every week.

A trained children's pastor can influence hundreds of children. A well-equipped volunteer can explain the Gospel more clearly. A parent who understands discipleship can make faith part of everyday family life.

The ministry therefore invests heavily in the adults surrounding children.

CGPKids equips local churches to help children know Christ and grow as His disciples. Its primary strategy is developing the leaders who serve those children by providing training, ministry resources, and ongoing support. Through this approach, the ministry seeks to make children's discipleship a serious part of the life and mission of every Church of God of Prophecy congregation.
